KASABIAN - WEST RYDER LUNATIC PAUPER ASYLUM
Best of 2009
Once again I am completely blown away by the British 'real' music scene. I've been eagerly awaiting for the new album from Kasabian for months (West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum, which is due out in all good record shops on June 8th) and I was not disappointed by the first installment of singles. 'Fire,' is an amazing track. It's the kind of record you want to play when you're smashing up your kitchen. Perfectly written by Sergio Pizzorno and the vocals are equally
backed up by the genius that is Tom Meighan. The B-side doesn't disappoint either. It's a beautifully crafted cover of Del Shannon's 1961 No. 1 hit, 'Runaway' and dare I say that it may even be better. It's loyal yet original with a psychedelic harmonica solo to boot, recorded live from 'The Little Noise Sessions.'

West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum is back to what Kasabian know best, floor stomping,
aggression filled, ego boosted British rock 'n' roll. I really think, everything from the artwork straight through to the name is perfect. They have featured a few times on some live performances, including 'Later' promoting their new material and are going from strength to strength.
