On 28 August 2009 one of the worlds greatest rock’n’roll bands crumbled in front of the public eye and left a vacant hole at the top of the music industry pyramid. This was soon filled by almost the same band… Beady Eye was born.

For months, Liam Gallagher, lead vocalist of the new British rock band, had kept the name firmly under his Pretty Green hat. I for one, wasn’t sure, how a name could replace one that was so perfect before, but it has grown on me with time and its strange and unique styling is what I hope will reverb through the other elements of the new 4 pieces music.
Along with Gallagher, he has retained Gem Archer on rhythm, Andy Bell (formerly Bass) who has switched to guitar and drummer Chris Sharrock (formerly of The La’s, World Party and The Lightning Seeds). Once keyboardist with Kula Shaker and part-time live Oasis player, Jay Darlington will be supplying the keys to Beady Eyes new sound.

As for material, the band have begun writing and recording new material as from November 2009, with the hope of a single being produced and distributed October 2010. Maestro, Steve Lillywhite is set to produce the forth-coming album, for release in early 2011.
A classic fish-eye camera shot of the boys in the studio was sent out as an initial press shot of the band. Gem is sporting a classic off-white jacket and Liam in his new self-designed attire. The bands new site was also launched, not giving too much away except for the key line, “working on their way of looking at the world”.

I’m hoping for a heavy, rockier album, much similar to the last Oasis record, Dig Out Your Soul. Especially as Gallagher, Bell and Archer are all cohesively writing for the album, I’m expecting a melting pot of styles and influences. Roll on 2011.
